Documentary photograph from the Imagine Photojournalist Society archive

Our Philosophy

We believe that a single, unaltered photograph holds the power to shape history and serve as a public record.

Imagine Photojournalist Society was founded in 2012 by international photojournalist Purushottam Diwakar. In an era of endless manipulation, authentic documentary photography is more crucial than ever. We treat a photograph as evidence, not decoration, and work to build a culture that reads images as carefully as it reads words.

Our Mission

To cultivate, support, and elevate documentary photographers committed to authentic storytelling, bringing them into one room through mentorship and practice.

Our Vision

A society where critical narratives are documented faithfully, passing the craft of photojournalism onto the next generation.

Core Values

Authenticity

We reject manipulation. Our images reflect reality and serve as a public trust.

Mentorship

We bridge generations, connecting students directly with national editors and veterans.

Courage

We go where the story is, empowering initiatives like Camera Commandos to report from the frontlines.

Legacy

We build archives that will educate generations to come through platforms like Jeene Ka Andaaz.
