Tracey Eaton

Mr. Tracey Eaton is an award-winning writer, investigative journalist, and photojournalist. He has worked extensively across Latin America and was a Fulbright scholar in Ecuador. Eaton has reported on various investigative stories for publications such as The Fort Myers News-Press, The Miami Herald, and The Tampa Tribune. He also contributed to the Cuba page of The New York Times and served as Metropolitan Editor and Mexico/Border Editor at the Houston Chronicle. He headed bureaus for the Dallas Morning News in Mexico and Cuba and worked as a field producer for NBC News in Havana.

Tracey created the documentary “Grietas de Muerte” (“Cracks of Death”) for CiberCuba and produced a series on the murders of transgender women for Insider, which has 97 million monthly visitors. He also made a documentary titled “Las Damas de Blanco and their fight for the streets of Cuba.” After 9/11, he traveled to Afghanistan to cover the U.S. invasion and the battles between the Northern Alliance and the Taliban.

Tracey was invited by UNESCO in Paris to showcase photos and videos from Cuba and Ecuador at the Mosaic of Change, celebrating the agency’s 70th anniversary. He has received multiple grants from the Pulitzer Center for projects like “Death Traps” and “Cuban Youth: The Battle for Hearts and Minds,” and he also received a Fulbright grant. He published a book called “Cuban Thunder: Harley-Davidson in Cuba” and contributed a chapter to “Memorable Characters of Cuba” in a Contemporary Cuba Reader: The Revolution Under Raúl Castro (Rowman-Littlefield, 2014). He currently works as a freelance journalist and teaches journalism at Flagler College in Florida.
