B V Rao is a journalist, editor, commentator, and news professional, currently serving as the Editor of Firstpost, India’s first and largest digital-only newspaper.

Rao began his professional career in June 1984 at Newstoday, an afternoon newspaper in Chennai. Over his 55 years in the industry, he has spent more than 32 years in various newsrooms, both big and small. He has held senior positions in print, broadcast, and digital newsrooms. He has experience with monthlies, weeklies, dailies, and tabloids. Rao has worked and edited national newspapers in many cities, including Chennai, Bangalore, Bombay, Ahmedabad, Baroda, and Delhi. Throughout his career, he has improved content and boosted circulation for many publications and channels, including News Today, Electronics For You, Mid-Day, Sunday Observer, Delhi Mid-Day, The Indian Express, Free Press Journal, Times of India, Today, DNA, Star News, Zee News, Governance Now, Samay Network, and currently, Firstpost.
